You confirm that you have the legal authority and capacity to accept these Terms of Use. If you are using the Council System on behalf of any person or entity, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms of Use on such person’s or entity’s behalf.

Subject to the creation of an account (“Account”), a person who accepts these Terms of Use (a “User”) is permitted access to the Council System (in accordance with these Terms of Use) and to use a Council Account for the limited purpose of linking a User’s existing Council licence with the Account, making payments for Council application or licence fees, applying for or completing an annual licence renewal of a User’s Council licence, posting, searching and/or uploading certain information and reviewing certain information posted by one or more of the other Users, Council or other persons permitted by Council to use the Council System, and is able to receive additional services offered by Council from time to time (such permitted access and ability to receive services collectively referred to as the "Services").

Council is a regulatory body under the Financial Institutions Act (the “Act”) responsible for the licensing and regulation of insurance agents, insurance salespersons, and insurance adjusters.

COUNCIL ACCOUNT

A Council Account allows a User to use the Services available on and through the Council System. Anyone wishing to become a User and create a Council Account must provide certain information to us and agree to abide by these Terms of Use. Users are responsible for any security breaches or performance issues relating to accessing the Council System.

Any user name, password, or any other piece of information chosen by you or provided to you as part of our security procedures, must be treated as confidential, and you must not disclose it to anyone else. You must exercise caution when accessing your Account so that others are not able to view or record your password or other personal information. Your Account is personal to you and you agree not to provide any other person with access to the Council System or portions of it using your user name, password, or other security information.

You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to or use of your user name or password or any other breach of security. You also agree to ensure that you logout from your Account at the end of each session. You are responsible for any password misuse or any unauthorized access.

We reserve the right at any time and from time to time, to disable or terminate your Account, any user name, password, or other identifier, whether chosen by you or provided by us, in our sole discretion for any or no reason, including any violation of any provision of these Terms of Use.

As long as you maintain an Account, you consent to, and may not “opt out” of receiving Account-related emails from Council.

Information on this Site is provided solely for the user's information and while thought to be accurate it is provided without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. Council will not be liable for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from use of the information provided on this Site. Links from this Site to other websites are presented as a convenience to users of this Site; and the Insurance Council of British Columbia does not accept any responsibility for the content found at other websites.
